Jay and Jeanie Schottenstein
We are pleased to announce that Jay and Jeanie Schottenstein have been selected as this year's American Red Cross of Greater Columbus Humanitarians of the Year; an honor bestowed upon those whose efforts to prevent suffering and protect life and health have improved life in greater Columbus and beyond.
As one of the nation's most distinquished families in philanthropy, Jay and Jeanie are well-known for their generosity to numerous local, national and international projects. Concerned about the quality of life for all, Jay has a deep commitment to health and education issues having served as a director of the Arthur James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, Chairman of the Board of Yeshiva College and Columbus Torah Academy and Chairman of the Mesorah Heritage Foundation. At the forefront of Jeanie's community involvement is a strong commitment to issues relating to women's health, education and awareness of domestic violence. Her efforts led to the creation of the “Women’s Health Initiative” at The Ohio State University where she is also a director of the OSU Foundation Board and serves on the Interfaith Council of the Coalition Against Family Violence.
Many organizations in Columbus, including the Red Cross have received support from Jay and Jeanie’s family foundation or from one of the family’s local companies including, Value City Furniture, Retail Ventures, Inc., DSW, American Signature and American Eagle Outfitters. Jay and Jeanie, both personally and through their companies, remain committed to important causes in our community and beyond.
Please join us on April 27, 2010 as we honor Jay and Jeanie Schottenstein for their outstanding example of volunteer service and humanitarian leadership in our community.
